We have been down to the east end of Bonaparte Lake to scout it out, but haven’t paddled it yet.

Location and Access

  • The best access is from the west through 100 Mile House, a longer drive from Kamloops.  Details are found at this site – Bonaparte Lake Recreation Site
  • We checked out the east end of the lake by going to the Spruce Wilderness Lodge.   The lodge would charge a modest parking and launch fee for the day.   Access is via the Jamieson Creek Road (57.5 km).

The Lake

The lake is 17 km long.   The lodge operators say that the winds blow down the lake from the west.   They mentioned a good beach down the lake.  From Google Earth, that appears to be 5km along the south shore.   Check the wind forecast before venturing up or down the lake.
